Martin Douglas

Martin has worked as an urban design consultant for almost two decades, begining with the the former Colin Buchanan and Partners, before spells at Mason Richards Partnership/RPS and Barton Willmore.

Martin has spent the last seven years at Pad Design, a Bristol based design practice which is engaged in a wide portfolio of projects that draw on the integration of masterplanning, architecture and urban design. Martin is a panellist on the South West Design Review Panel.

Martin has a wide range of development experience: from concept design and site promotion; through illustrative masterplans and outline applications; to detailed proposals, tenders and town centre regeneration projects. He is skilled in putting together a variety of design documents and has helped to run training courses on Design and Access Statements and Manual for Streets to Welsh local authorities.

Martin has a strong graphic ability, and a number of his drawings have featured in Build magazine's Sketch of the Week feature. Examples can be seen on his Instagram page (www.instagram.com/douglasdoodles).

Prior to working as an Urban Designer, Martin undertook a wide variety of roles, including being employed as a marketing designer and community artist. He wrote the dissertation for his Urban Design masters degree on the public perception of public art.
