Urban Design Consultant and University Teacher
A creative and enthusiastic urban designer, Kenneth’s significant experience with highly respected design consultancies, including Gillespies, Roger Evans Associates and Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, are testament to his commitment and ability. With an MA in urban design, complemented by a degree in architecture and previous experience in traffic engineering, Kenneth has developed over many years a range of urban design and masterplanning projects for both public and private clients, from inception to implementation, in collaboration with co-professionals, stakeholders and local communities. Consequently, Kenneth has wide ranging presentation, consultation and engagement experience, from formal lectures to community workshops with local residents and school children.
As a consultant, Kenneth has advised clients from ‘both sides of the fence’ – public sector bodies and private landowners and developers. This has given him the experience to see the development process from different viewpoints, a key negotiating skill as an urban designer. He also believes it is essential to take a positive co-operative approach in urban design and to have the ability to work across disciplines as a masterplanner.
Kenneth currently works as an independent specialist urban designer and also teaches urban design and planning part-time at the University of Liverpool in the Department of Civic Design. Academic interests include sustainable urban design, development economics and health.
