Silver End

Silver End was the vision of Francis Henry Crittall, who built the village to house workers for his metal window factory, Crittall Windows Ltd. Built in the 1920s the village exhibits many Garden City and Art Deco features.

Understanding the site’s context was essential to ensuring that the proposed layout is a responsive new place. Demonstrating this through the layout and exploring potential architectural responses was crucial to securing an outline planning permission on this unallocated site.

The outline application for up to 60 new homes was overwhelmingly approved in late 2015.
