Project ROSE

PROJECT SUMMARY

The objective of Project ROSE is to provide a sustainable and enduring estate infrastructure for the delivery of State Ceremonial & Public Duties within central London by the British Armed Forces.  The project will deliver a renewed central London estate that supports the delivery of this high profile output that includes the UK’s two mounted horse regiments.  Wood are the design and technical advisors for the project, which is regarded as one of the most complex and challenging estate development projects in the UK.

OUR APPROACH

Within a wider portfolio of services to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation for Project ROSE including overall project management, we are providing urban strategy, masterplanning and environmental advice specifically to deliver the objectives of Project ROSE.  This has included supporting in the definition of MoD User Requirements to deliver State Ceremonial and Public Duties, through a combination of consulting with relevant Military users and understanding the constraints and opportunities of each site.  We have also undertaken evaluation of development options through exploratory design – taking into account the multiplicity of requirements, including the need to maintain military outputs throughout construction and responding appropriately to the highly constrained sites in terms of neighbouring uses, historic environment and security.
