Northstowe Design Code

Northstowe is a new town in Cambridgeshire, promoted by Gallagher and Homes and Communities Agency (HCA). It will be the home of around 25,000 people and is one of the NHS’s Healthy New Towns (HNT).

The design code has been developed in collaboration with District and County Council’s and includes site specific requirements  as well as over arching guidance on how to create design quality.

The HCA has very high aspiration in terms of creating a contemporary new town of the highest development quality.

The Design Code is a comprehensive guide that will determine the aesthetic of the second phase of development, including street types, public realm and typologies, and approaches to mixed use town centre development.
