Employment Sites, Anglesey, Wales
AMEC have undertaken a series of related pieces of work on key employment sites for the Isle of Anglesey County Council as part of their Site and Premises Project. This has included preparing masterplans for five employment sites which form part of the Anglesey Enterprise Zone in order to support the Council’s economic development and EU/Welsh Government funding activities.
An associated Signage Strategy was also prepared for eleven sites across the island. This included an assessment of current signage provision, options at various budget levels for improvements and a suite of working drawings for implementation purposes.
A 3-D flythrough was also produced setting the Anglesey employment sites in the context of the strategic transport route from Dublin to the north of England across North Wales. The video presentation was used on the Council’s website and translated into English, Welsh and Japanese in order to attract potential investors. This can be viewed at http://www.anglesey.gov.uk/business/regeneration-and-investment/sites-and-premises-project/3d-flythrough/
The AMEC design team has taken a key employment site within the Island’s main employment area at Llangefni through to delivery as an exemplary development, to stimulate and lift the quality of development in the surrounding area. The development demonstrates ‘best practice’ in the design small employment facilities.
The buildings have been designed as flexible workspaces incorporating quality material finishes, natural daylighting, a highly insulated and airtight fabric, and suitable renewable technology to achieve a predicted BREEAM Excellent rating. The building and site environmental design responds to the prominent site location, whilst complementing surrounding buildings.
