Cheshire East Design Guide

e*SCAPE Urbanists were appointed by Cheshire East Council to develop a borough wide design guide.

The guide is split into two volumes, the first sets out the character of the borough breaking it down into various character areas and defines what makes those areas special.  Volume 1 also looks at good design practice and how it must be acheived in the borough.

Volume 2 focuses on the residential guidance, based on the use of Building for Life 12.  The guidance looks at working with the context, creating a strong structure and form to developments, street design, green infrastructure/landscape design, sustainability and quality of life.

The Design Guide was adopted as a Supplementary Planning Document in May 2017 amd is now used by planning officers, members and developers on all schemes in the borough.
