Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners

At Nathaniel Lichfield & Partners we integrate creativity and realism in our approach to urban design that forms part of our overall town planning consultancy services for both private and public sector clients.

We undertake masterplanning of new neighbourhoods and major urban extensions, establishing the redevelopment potential of sensitive and challenging urban sites, and facilitating positive community engagement. Our illustrative masterplans and detailed plans - often supporting planning applications - are based on a thorough understanding of context, best practice and consultation.

Each project is critically examined to identify where NLP’s urban designers can add value for our clients and to aid communication and understanding between clients, stakeholders and the wider community.

A flexible and inclusive approach, including consultation, means that we engage in dialogue with the community and built environment professionals alike.

Our design skills and analytical abilities are applied in many situations:

  • Townscape and Visual Impact assessment forms an integral part of our input to Environmental Statements, for developments in sensitive urban or rural sites.
  • Our experience of heritage and associated design issues spans from the local to internationally recognised heritage assets: we provide design advice, input to planning applications and presenting expert evidence at public inquiries.
  • Daylight and sunlight analysis enables development to be accurately modelled and tested, guiding proposals for complex urban sites.

‘The design team at NLP bring a creative approach to the master planning of our sites as well as ensuring the schemes are realistic and implementable. Combining this with their planning, graphics and economic work has resulted in first class planning applications.’
