LDA Design is an independent, design, environment and sustainability consultancy established over 35 years ago and with a professional team of more than 140 people. We work in the UK and internationally for the private and public sector. Our work includes best practice guidance, city visions and strategic master plans, regeneration strategies and frameworks, development master plans, sustainability and energy studies, public realm strategies and projects, parks and green infrastructure, design guidance and coding.
We place great emphasis on taking projects from the visionary and strategic through to the delivery and performance on the ground. Our detailed delivery work includes proving layouts, architectural testing and reserved matters consenting.
Urban design and development masterplanning in the wrong hands can become formulaic, predictable and can result in undeliverable projects. We develop smart and creative solutions that are shaped around economic, environmental and social objectives. Our aim is always to understand the place, to deliver the specific requirements of the client and the needs of the community. Each project is different by virtue of its unique location and our design response is equally thoughtful and appropriate.
This approach is driven from the top and the intellectual rigour of the leadership team is maintained by undertaking research projects and working on initiatives that are able to influence professional thinking. Our involvement in organisations ranges from the Academy of Urbanism and CABE/Design Council to the UK China Ecocities Group. LDA Design is especially involved in developing a new approach to the growth and development of cities through its Cities team with wide-ranging skills from delivery through to regeneration and sustainability.
Our ultimate goal is always to deliver projects on the ground. For our clients this means achieving rapid and efficient planning consents, designing commercially successful and award-winning projects. Our track record speaks for itself. We work at every scale from new generation garden cities and new sustainable settlements of over 10,000 new homes in the UK, to some of the most well-known projects in the UK such as the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, the design and transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, and the masterplanning of major new mixed use communities in London such as Meridian Water.
Internationally, LDA Design is working on new city growth master plans in China and was successful in winning the international design competition to master plan one of Moscow’s best known former industrial sites, Serp and Molot Plant. We are also involved in masterplanning a new airport city on the edge of Moscow.
