JTP is an international placemaking practice of architects and urbanists, with extensive experience of delivering successful projects for both public and private sectors throughout the UK, Europe, Russia and China. We are passionate about good buildings and the spaces in between, but we know that unless they answer the real needs of those who use them, they engage no one. It is only when buildings and spaces respond to people’s needs that they can truly be called a place. And this is what we really care about creating – great places.
We specialise in harnessing human energy by using participatory techniques pioneered and honed over two decades to build collaborative visions for our projects with the very people who will go on to use them.
From our offices in London, Edinburgh and Shanghai, we undertake placemaking projects at every scale, from cities and towns, to neighbourhoods and streets, from remaking the old to creating the completely new, and the design of individual buildings.
We approach all our projects through a process of understanding, engaging and creating, which together we call Collaborative Placemaking. We believe this process has social, economic, physical and environmental benefits, which are the key components of sustainable placemaking.
Beginning with large-scale strategic placemaking advice, and evolving through visioning, masterplanning, regeneration and on to architecture, our holistic approach delivers continuity, integration and focus of effort through the different levels of its execution. In other words, we know how to create a large-scale vision and to make sure this is reflected and reinforced in every detail.
