With our four strategically placed design studios, IDP have national coverage of skills, expertise and resources. Our integrated approach supplements the skills of our urban designers with architectural, technical and landscape architecture in-house expertise.

IDP have used their ‘Urbanist Architecture & Landscape’ philosophy to create a wide range of successful places throughout the UK, often as commissions won through public sector competitions.

Our approach to projects is to fully understand the problem posed, and begins with conceptualising how to facilitate the creation of life and activity within our proposals. This is followed by the creation and manipulation of space within the designs; which is then reinforced with the introduction of form. Together this evolution combines to create a highly dynamic and responsive place. Architectural and landscape architecture inputs are seen as integral to any design process, and are homogeneous with our urban design strategies.

IDP utilise this Urbanist approach to design across all sectors, including residential, commercial, health, education and mixed-use developments. At all times this approach develops within clear parameters to ensure that designs are economically viable and adhere to planning policy and design guidance.

Our wealth of experience and expertise, at both small and large scales, enables us to input at all stages of the design process. Beginning from early conceptual and feasibility work, through consultation and detailed design, to technical drawings, project management and construction; ensuring a high design quality throughout.

We bring our design expertise to a variety of projects, including design guides, masterplans, layout design, mixed-use schemes, townscape analysis, design codes, development briefs, expert witness advice, architectural design and landscape strategies; in addition to our work as visiting tutors to universities and the exploration of best practice design through ‘IDP Studio’.
